Aesthetics – Flint and Tinder James Waxed Snap Jacket 

Obviously, the primary reason I was interested in this jacket was because of the way it looks, and boy, does it look good. The Waxed Canvas finish gives it a slight shine that you definitely won’t see on normal cotton jackets. The overall slimness and fit are very pleasing and give a sophisticated, café racer look that definitely dig. 

The minimalism of pockets and extras keeps in line with the heritage retro look, and I found this jacket with me on many of my less casual outings with friends. The all black snaps are a nice touch and keep the silhouette of the jacket very sharp. In case it was difficult to discern, I love the look of this jacket! 

How does it fit? – Flint and Tinder James Waxed Snap Jacket 

When I first requested my sample of this jacket, I asked for a size small based on the Huckberry size guide on their site. I thought a size small might be a bit snug, but their charts said otherwise. After receiving the Snap Jacket in the mail, my suspicions were confirmed, this was far to small for me. I’m 5 feet 9” with an athletic build, and I usually have to get my jackets in size M for the most part. Thankfully, Huckberry was great about exchanging me for a size M and quite quickly, I might add. The Size M jacket fit me much better overall, but was still a bit tight in the Shoulders when I would roll them, and the sleeves still felt a bit short to me, but I knew the next size up would be too big for me. 

This is the most frustrating part I have with some Huckberry products. They look amazing, but you might need to return them a few times before you get the right size. Strangely enough, even though this jacket runs slimmer on me, I have no problem sliding a hoodie or additional layer underneath for extra warmth in cooler months. 

Functionality – Flint and Tinder James Waxed Snap Jacket

Functionally, this jacket has a few tricks up its sleeves. This jacket has two waist welt pockets, a right chest welt pocket, and one Interior welt pocket. These pockets are all free of any snaps and very simple in their layout. The hand pockets are cotton-lined for a bit more warmth, but unfortunately, the openings are very small for your hands. This was the same complaint I had on the Flint and Tinder Quilted Waxed Shirt Jacket. The Canvas will take some time to break in, and you will need to reapply wax after, but I have not gotten to that point yet. Keep in mind this jacket is not waterproof, but it will help you out in a small shower. The Jacket is also not very warm, so don’t get this to wear in the winter unless you plan to layer up intentionally. Lastly, it’s not very packable, so I don’t recommend this one for lots of traveling if you want to throw it in a bag.

• Sizing can be difficult. Definitely try this one on in person if you can before buying 
• Not Made in the USA, but comes with a Made in the USA Price 
• Hand pockets are a bit too small 
• Not very warm 

Wrap Up – Flint and Tinder James Waxed Snap Jacket 

In summary, the Flint and Tinder James Waxed Snap Jacket is a real looker, but its sizing issues and price hold it back a bit for me. I love many of Flint and Tinder’s Products, but I never found myself excited to wear this one, and sacrificed function over form whenever I chose it. Now, if you don’t care about a lot of the things I laid out as dislikes, so include packability and warmth, and just want a stylish jacket to wear here and there, go for it and pick up this jacket. For me, I still adore the James waxed Snap Jacket, but it won’t overthrow my Patagonia Nano puff as my #1 go-to jacket.
