Legal victories can often be few and far between for the gun community because we are constantly under attack. More so than any other constitutional right that we have. Recently, Ammunition Depot scored a major legal victory for California gun owners and all Americans who believe in the preservation of our constitutional rights. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit has ruled in our favor (for gun owners), declaring California’s restrictive ammunition law unconstitutional. Currently, it is unclear whether California’s restrictions will remain in place.

A Word from Ammunition Depot on their 9th Circuit Victory
Boca Raton, Florida – July 24th, 2025 – Ammunition Depot, a leading nationwide supplier of ammunition, firearms, and tactical gear, is proud to announce a significant legal victory for Second Amendment rights. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has ruled in favor of Ammunition Depot and its co-plaintiffs, striking down California’s restrictive 2019 ammunition law that required in-person background checks for every ammunition purchase.
While this is a historic milestone, it is unclear whether California’s restrictions remain in place for the time being. Ammunition Depot will provide updates as soon as that is known.

Ammunition Depot, a key plaintiff in this case, challenged the restrictive laws alongside the California Rifle & Pistol Association (CRPA) and Olympic shooter Kim Rhode. The legal team at Michel & Associates and Clement & Murphy successfully argued that the law violated the rights of California’s 40 million residents.
“This decision sends a clear message that our constitutional rights are not up for debate or negotiation,” said Wolgin. “We’ll continue working to protect those rights until this process is complete.”
