Burris Fullfield 4-16×50: Honest Glass for Real Hunters

Burris Fullfield 4-16×50: Honest Glass for Real Hunters

Every now and then, a piece of gear reminds you that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get solid performance in the field. The Burris Fullfield 4-16×50 is one of those reminders. I took this optic down to Texas with wide skies, long shots, and plenty of mirage, and came away impressed with what Burris has managed to pack into this scope for the money.

Built for Real Hunting Conditions

The Fullfield line has been around long enough to earn its reputation. Burris did not try to reinvent the wheel here. They refined it. This 4-16×50 model hits that sweet spot between magnification flexibility and low-light capability. Four power is perfect for closer shots on hogs or deer slipping through mesquite, and sixteen lets you reach out across open country without losing image clarity.

The 50mm objective lens pulls in a generous amount of light, and paired with Burris Hi-Lume multicoating, it does a solid job of cutting glare and sharpening contrast in tricky light. Early mornings and late evenings in Texas can make even good glass look flat, but the Fullfield held its own. You can tell Burris put real work into their lens coatings. The image stays clear and true without that cheap blue hue or washed-out tone you get from lower-end optics.

The Burris Build

Burris scopes have always had a bit of a working man’s vibe to them. Built tough, not flashy. The Fullfield keeps that same energy. It uses a one-piece aluminum tube that is nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed, making it waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof. It is built to handle recoil from about anything you would realistically hunt with.

The turrets are capped, which makes sense for this type of optic. You are not dialing every shot in the deer woods. They click cleanly and stay put once you zero. Elevation and windage adjustments are in ¼ MOA increments, giving you fine control without being overly sensitive.

The magnification ring turns smooth with a firm grip texture, and the integrated eyepiece and power ring design keeps things simple. It is one of those details you stop noticing after a while because it just works.

Reticle Options and Field Use

The model I tested came with Burris Ballistic E3 reticle, which is a nice balance between simplicity and functionality. The holdover marks are straightforward and usable without cluttering the sight picture. Once you get familiar with your caliber and distances, those subtensions come in handy without needing a range card taped to your stock.

Tracking stayed consistent throughout my tests. After a quick zero at 100 yards, I dialed out and back in several times to check for shift, and it always returned to zero. In the field, I made a few quick wind adjustments and the scope tracked predictably each time.

Burris Warranty and Support

If you have been around optics long enough, you know a good warranty means more than marketing talk. Burris Forever Warranty is about as straightforward as it gets. No warranty card, no receipt, no questions asked. If it breaks, they fix it or replace it. It is fully transferable too. That kind of backing gives you peace of mind, especially if you hunt hard and use your gear often.

Burris is based out of Greeley, Colorado, and their customer service has earned a loyal following for good reason. They are hunters and shooters themselves, and it shows when you call with a question or need a quick turnaround.

Final Thoughts

The Burris Fullfield 4-16×50 is not trying to be the fanciest scope on the market. It is trying to be a dependable one, and that is exactly what it is. The glass quality punches above its price point, the adjustments are reliable, and the construction feels purpose-built for real-world use.

Whether you are mounting it on a new deer rifle or upgrading an older rig that has earned its keep, the Fullfield 4-16×50 gets the job done. Burris has managed to keep their promise of providing affordable excellence, and after a few long days under the Texas sun, I can say that promise still holds true.

If you are in the market for a versatile, no-nonsense optic that balances price, performance, and durability, this one deserves a spot on your shortlist.
