[ICAST 2025] Bates New Digital Casting Control Reel – EDC 100

Bates Fishing Co. is at ICAST 2025 bringing out something out of their norm this year with the EDC 100. This is their first casting reel with digital casting control, with the Digitally Assisted Brake (D.A.B.) system. Inside the die-cast aluminum frame, the EDC 100 has a special digital chip and electromagnetic braking to give anglers precision control of their casts on the water. That way, you can skip docks, cast lighter baits, or deal with the wind easily. This 100-sized casting reel also comes with a lightweight, drilled spooled and 100mm swept handle with ergo reel knobs. Getting back to the frame of this reel, long-time users of Bates reels will be surprised by a die-cast aluminum frame instead of a CNC-machined frame. This new frame is still capable of putting out 15 pounds of drag pressure and also comes with a lower price point, with the MSRP being set at $199.99. Expect to see the new Bates Fishing Co. EDC 100 available later this year, around October.
