Springfield Armory continues to grow out their offerings of bolt-action rifles with the popular and accurate Model 2020. This model has come in a couple iterations as the Waypoint, Boundary, and Redline. Each of which has their own unique style, purpose, and flavor to them. An additional permutation within the Model 2020 series has been the Model 2020 Heatseeker. This precision and competition-ready offering was meant to possibly be a short-run offering – but it has been so popular – that Springfield Armory is now giving us more with additional barrel length options via .308 Winchester and 6.5 Creedmoor.

Springfield Armory Model 2020 Heatseeker Rifles
The new barrel lengths that we are seeing are a 20″ in 7.62 NATO (.308 Winchester) as well as a 20″ and 22″ barrel offering for the 6.5 Creedmoor faithful in the reading audience. These rifles have an MSRP of $2,355 placing them in the same territory as the original models that sport 16″ barrels.
All of the attributes that we have come to know and love from the Heatseeker are retained in these longer barrel variants like the Sharps Bros Heatseeker M-Lok Chassis as well as a B5 Systems Collapsible Precision Stock (size of Large) and a B5 Systems P-Grip 23 for dexterity and handling. A Word from Springfield Armory on their NEW Heatseeker Rifle Offerings
Geneseo, Illinois – October 28th, 2025 – Springfield Armory® is proud to announce new longer-barrel Springfield Armory® Model 2020 Heatseeker variants with 20” and 22” barrels. The Model 2020 Heatseeker — originally launched earlier this year with a 16” barrel — is a chassis-based rifle crafted for shooters who demand bolt-action precision and AR-style modularity in one uncompromising, suppressor-ready platform.
Featuring a rugged Coyote Brown Cerakote finish, the bolt-action rifles are available in .308 Win. or 6.5 Creedmoor (CM). The .308 Win. version is a 20” model, while the 6.5 CM versions are offered in either 20” or 22” models.

Seeing Springfield Armory listen to the people and give us even more of a good thing is wonderful to see when so many manufacturers – not just in the firearms industry – fail to listen to their customers.
